In March 2021, a 21-year-old man murdered eight people, including six women of Asian descent, at three spas in Atlanta, Georgia – a horrific attack in a year of widespread anti-Asian violence. Rising Against Asian Hate: One Day in March pays tribute to the lives lost, examines the rise of anti-Asian racism, and documents a growing movement to fight back and stop the hate.

How Misinformation Fueled the Rise in Anti-AAPI Targeted Violence

DHS’s Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships (CP3) 8th Digital Forum on Prevention is focused on learning how faith-based and affinity organizational leaders are crucial in preventing targeted violence and terrorism. This Digital Forum will be presented in collaboration with The Asian American Foundation (TAAF), an innovative organization that is working on the front lines of anti-hate and advocacy. This panel will discuss recent reports of a rise in anti-AAPI hate/ targeted crimes, and how misinformation, disseminated largely via online forums and social media, contribute to this rise and what organizations are currently doing to counteract this. Leaders and experts in the frontlines of AAPI-advocacy and anti-hate work will discuss how their organizations are working together, and individually, to stem this tide of attacks and fight misinformation of AAPI communities.

Hate is a Virus, Act to Change, and Stop AAPI Hate are partnering to hold a virtual, nationwide AAPI Youth Conference entitled Changemakers Summit 2021. This will be Act to Change’s 3rd Annual Anti-Bullying Youth Conference in recognition of National Bullying Prevention Month. Designed to support, connect, and develop the next generation of AAPI youth activists, the program for this conference will be grounded in four pillars: Inform, Educate, Empower, Celebrate. The Changemakers Summit will take place virtually during Bullying Prevention Month on October 23, 2021 from 10:00am – 3:00pm PST. We invite all students, especially AAPI youth, ranging from middle school to college students and adult advocates (parents, educators, organizers, etc.). We plan to host a variety of workshops, speaker panels, and community discussions that attendees can choose to partake in, across three different tracks: AAPIs in Social Justice, AAPIs in Education, and AAPIs in Innovations
